GI Diet

Today was the beginning! My goal is to be a size 6 by Sept 18, my good friend's wedding! I got up and went to the gym at 7. I really wanted to stay in bed because I was still tired from an AWESOME weekend, but made it there and did 20 minutes on the elliptical=2miles and an upper body weight workout! I always hate doing cardio but always feel great when I am done! Then I went home, showered, and ate a nectarine on the way to my mom's. My grandma, aunt, mom and I went shopping today, and I admit that I did not do that well for dinner as I ate meatloaf, salad, corn on the cob and a potato with ice cream for dessert. However, my aunt shared with me a book called the GI diet that I am in the midst of reading and am going to the store tomorrow to get the food I need for it! It is amazing and I am very excited! Goodbye bad carbs!!!
I am getting a little concerned, however, as I start my job next Monday and am unsure of how the schedule is going to coincide with my workout schedule...beings I have to leave my house at 5:45 to start surgery at 6:45, the AM's are not going to work anymore. My plan is to pack my workout bag and hit the gym before going home...it should work, right?????

Victory in the Kitchen

Today I took bootcamp! Rocked it...ish... It was really hard. And it was taught by this cute pregger chic, who could do it ALL with a big baby in her, and with a smile on her face. I was sweaty, gross, and beyond tired. However to my defense, I still probably weigh more than her...

BUT I cooked up a storm. After the Dictator's tutorial last night, I made stir fry chicken and veggies, roasted garlic and veggies, and ground turkey taco meal, which I will eat wrapped in lettuce wraps (did I leave them at the Dictator's???) Now I am going to shower and lie on the couch, attempting to stay productive over wedding planning.

Proud of The Girls!

The biggest step has been made. They are going to make a change and they are commited!!

This is my proud face :)

Jess did make it out to my house last night and while she didn't do any actual cooking (she was sore from her workout --awesome!!) we went over a few things like portion control, using small amounts of things like oils rather than whole Tablespoons, and mixing and matching seasonings so your taste buds don't get bored. I also introduced her to the beauty of wrapping things in lettuce rather than bread. Hopefully she'll enjoy it! :)

Jess ALSO signed up for a membership at the community center where I teach classes. She took her first class yesterday, and although she complained ALL NIGHT about how sore she was, I was so proud of her.

Keep up the work ladies. I'm so excited for you!!

At the Beginning

I really don't know how to start this. I want to lose weight. My dear friend and bridesmaid, Megan, is in the same boat. We were little. We keep getting happier, and consequently, bigger. So it stops. My wedding is Sept 18th, and I want to drop like 20 lbs. So I plan to track my workouts, diet, and life changes to get me there. I hope Megan does the same. And a HUGE shout-out to Brandi, my personal life trainer, and another bridesmaid. Now, off to her house to learn how to cook healthy and use portions...
